May 31st-June 6th is our mission trip to Camp Barnabas. If you have a 14 year old and up, and is still interested in going, please let me know as we have a few spots to fill! Contact Brent with questions.
Tuesday June 10th is the kick off for our Summer K-Life Program. Date and time will remain the same, but the location will be changing as of June 10th when we start.
Important Info:
As of June 30th, Cambridge Student Ministries will be moving out of the K-Life House, and will be moving our mid-week ministries from the K-Life house to the Cambridge Church office at Camden Woods Office Complex (14300 Kenneth Rd. Suite #220). This is a great opportunity for us as we transition to a great space! There will be some sadness on our end as we leave our home of six years, but this is the right decision for three main reasons. The main reason is the fact that our Cambridge Staff and Leadership Team, Council of Advice, and Cambridge Student Ministries and K-Life Board have all agreed that it would benefit our students, and overall church, to invest the money in finding some part-time help to reach kids for Christ and help them become mature followers of Christ. A part-time person would be a huge help to me in the area of teaching, leadership recruitment and development, small groups, programs, event planning, and administration. I have been slightly overwhelmed with taking on both assignments again (due to increased numbers of students involved!), in addition to being newly married and going back to school to get my Master's.
The second main reason is the fact that this new location is a better space for what we are trying to do in Cambridge Student Ministries and K-Life. It is a newer space, has better audio and video equipment, and is a better meeting space for club, praise and worship, and additional concerts or events (plus it has heating and air conditioning on a continuous basis and has a bakery/coffee shop downstairs!).
The third main reason is the fact that as previously mentioned, the staff, Council of Advice, and Board did not feel comfortable spending a lot of money on a house that doesn't hold a long term solution for us in addition to being extremely expensive. The house has been vacant since August, is empty five days a week, and is expensive to keep up and pay bills for. Even if someone gave us $40,000, it would be much better for the spiritual development of our students, to use that money to invest in part-time staff.
I want to emphasize that this decision is first about your students and doing what is best for them and our church in the short and long term. I am 100% convinced that this is not only the right step for us, but the best step forward. Yes, it is a hard decision to make, but we know that it must be made to help our student ministries continue our commitment to excellence by having great Christians leading our student ministries. If you have any questions, know of someone who is confused about what is going on, or just need some more info, please feel free to contact me at any time. I would love to share my vision for our Student Ministries. I am very excited about our future, and know that I will be sending out a personal letter to all parents, this summer, on how things are going and what lies ahead for us!
We are looking forward to moving into our new home and getting started with a great summer and fall!
